Health: Cat Facts

Benefits of Having a Cat
Studies show that people who have pets are often less stressed than those who don't. Owning a cat can satisfy a deep-seated desire to nurture and care for another living thing. Your cat is quiet, independent and self-cleaning. Great cuddlers and good listeners, in many ways, cats are the perfect companion. Here are some things every cat owner should know.

Cat Blood
Cats have AB blood groups, just like humans.

Cat Years
Most cats will reach about 11 or 12 years of age. Some will live as long as 18 years. A cat's longevity depends on whether or not it lives indoors or is allowed outdoors. Outdoor cats live an average of eight years, while indoor cats can live an average of 15 or more years.

Cats will age 10 years in the first six months of their life! In the next six months, they will age five more, bringing the total number of "cat years" to 15 in their first year of life! After this initial age spurt, you can expect your cat to age four years for every year of its life. So if your cat is three years old in "people years," it is 23 years old in "cat years."

Friskies
Give your cat the "Best Taste Ever" with Purina Friskies. Now Friskies dry cat food is even more appetizing. Cats will enjoy the enhanced taste and fun kibble shapes. Friskies. Full of Life.

Cat Urine
Cat urine actually glows in the dark, so if you know it's there somewhere, use a UV light to help mark the spot. Cat urine is difficult to remove, but it can be done! Use a good carpet shampoo if the urine is fresh. Then, soak it with club soda, wait about 10 minutes and blot it up. If that doesn't work, try a laundry detergent with enzymes. Of course, a strategically placed cat box will help eliminate this problem in the first place.
